Cheque Imaging

In an effort to improve our services to our members PSCU will be offering cheque imaging starting March 31, 2012.

Recent amendments to the CPA Image Rule and changes to the Bills of Exchange Act confirm that cheque images have the same legal standing as the physical items.

Physical cleared cheques will no longer be returned to the Credit Unions. They will be stored on-site at the processing centres for two weeks and then securely destroyed. Therefore, we do not have the capability to return cheques to our members. Instead, our members will be able to conveniently and easily access their monthly statements as well as the front and back images of their negotiated cheques 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through MemberDirect® Online Banking E-Statements. E-Statements contain the same detailed information as paper statements.

In addition to being more environmentally friendly, implementation of these changes should result in efficiencies and improvements in member service levels.
